Jim presented Amendment 5 to the RH2 on‑call consultant contract for design work on the 67th Avenue sewer upsizing project. He said growth has stressed a section of trunk sewer that currently narrows from 24 inches to 12 inches; the project replaces the undersized segment with a 24‑inch main over an overall length of about 5,900 feet.
To reduce disruption the work is split into Phase 1 (approximately 2,900 linear feet from 204th Avenue to the BNSF railroad crossing) and Phase 2 (directional drilling under the railroad and roughly 2,000 linear feet of 24‑inch sewer installation by open trench), with an expected completion date in 2027. Jim noted the city already has an easement under the railroad for the sewer main in some locations but that additional easements or BNSF permissions may be required. Council queried schedule and traffic impacts; staff estimated Phase 1 construction would last about 2½ months and that much of the work is on a three‑lane roadway so traffic control can use the center turn lane to maintain flow.
