Commission approves ordinance creating city auditing service and a slate of appointments

The Fort Pierce City Commission on March 2 adopted ordinance 26‑003 on second reading to create a city auditing services section in the code that requires an annual audit, establishes how an auditor is selected, sets contracting requirements, and limits the number of consecutive years an auditor may serve.
The commission also certified multiple appointments by resolution: Jessica Barclay to the Arts & Culture Advisory Board (26‑R11); Hoyt Murphy Jr. to the Historic Preservation Board (26‑R12); Charlie Hayek to the Police Community Advisory Committee (26‑R13); Krista Story to the Planning Board (26‑R14); and several appointments to the Auditor Selection Committee including Glenda Cavalcanti, Tory Kronister, Daryl Drummond and Jeremiah Johnson (26‑R15). The commission additionally authorized a maintenance memorandum of agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation for stormwater and drainage improvements (26‑R16). All measures were approved by roll call.
Members of the commission congratulated the appointees and thanked staff for preparing the items. The measures were approved unanimously on voice or roll-call votes and will take effect per the ordinances and resolutions' effective dates.
