Kate Garvey, identified in the meeting as CEO of the King County Assault Resource Center, accepted the proclamation on behalf of her organization, which is based in Renton. Garvey thanked the city for its sustained investment in survivor services and said the proclamation is "more than just words" for survivors who need ongoing support. "To the survivors in our community that are watching, I want to say to you clearly you are not alone," Garvey said.
Garvey said the center served "about 5,000 survivors and their family members" in the past year and emphasized that nearly half of those served were children. She encouraged residents to share the center's 24‑hour resource line as a practical way to help people in crisis.
The proclamation and the CEO's remarks focused on continuing community investment in outreach, prevention and survivor services.
