Commissioners approve ID badge system purchase contingent on funding line

Adams County commissioners on Thursday approved purchasing an ID‑badge system to improve courthouse security, with approval conditioned on identifying the funding source. County staff presented a vendor quote that covered software activation and upgrades (quoted at $7,836.30 in the meeting), plus a separate printer cost that will be billed when invoiced.

The proposed system would capture employee photos and integrate them into the county’s access-control system. Commissioners asked staff to recommend which employees (including part‑time employees, deputies and outside contractors) should receive badges and how badges should interact with existing fobs and time clocks. Several commissioners cautioned against duplicative credentials for deputies who already have sheriff-issued IDs.

A motion to approve the purchase was made contingent on identifying the correct funding line; the board approved the motion and asked staff (S12 and others) to return with a finalized personnel list and funding details before invoices are processed.

Next steps: Staff will meet with finance (Mike) to determine the proper account line, prepare an invoice routing plan and return with a list of intended badge recipients and any optional time-clock integration.
