Milledgeville — The city manager briefed the council on several operational items, including a proposed district realignment, progress on a LMIG paving contract and ARPA-funded equipment purchases.
The manager said Council members received 'plan 3' of the district realignment map and accompanying demographic data for the city's six elected districts; under home-rule state code the change would proceed as a charter amendment and the manager outlined plans for public hearings and notices. He said the team will schedule at least two hearings as part of regular meetings and consider an extra daytime session for broader public access.
On paving, the manager reported that 13,200 linear feet out of 38,403 scheduled (about 2.5 of 7.27 miles) have been completed under the LMIG contract. He named Barris Ferry Road (Orchard Hill Road to Dundee Drive) and Jefferson Street (bridge at Ivy Weaver to Log Cabin) as the largest segments and noted a change order funded with ARPA for Jefferson Street.
The manager also told council the city used $495,000 of ARPA funds to install interior cameras in police vehicles that sync with body-worn cameras, and said the cameras will be available for video delivery when needed for court purposes. He said he will present a full report on ARPA allocations at the March 11 meeting.
These items were presented as informational reports; the council did not take final action on the charter amendment or the LMIG contract at the meeting.
