Summary
The county approved several procurement actions, including a $7.03 million asphalt contract, a $1.95 million fire aerial apparatus purchase, and multiple smaller contracts funded by SPLOST, general funds, and grants.
At its April 14 meeting, the Paulding County Board of Commissioners approved several large procurement and construction contracts that county staff said are needed for road maintenance and public-safety equipment.
County staff announced an award of the FY26 asphalt project contract 1 to South Georgia Milling LLC for $7,027,926.66, financed through a GDOT LMIG grant ($2,554,386.83), general funds ($2,766,316.05) and SPLOST ($1,707,223.78). The board approved the contract on a motion and voice vote.
The board also approved a purchase of a new aerial apparatus from Williams Fire Apparatus Incorporated for $1,945,860, with requested funds from Fire Tax revenues and SPLOST. Other approved purchases included a FY26 bridge barrier improvement contract (Centimeters ES Inc., $762,909.70), exterior painting of the Ship Road water tank (not to exceed $161,894), and a compressed air and lubrication system for fleet maintenance (Reliable Hydraulics Inc., $169,112.10).
Commissioners noted the funding sources as listed in staff presentations: a mix of SPLOST, general funds, specific grant awards and departmental funds. The board moved through each contract with motions, seconds and voice votes recorded in the minutes; individual roll-call tallies were not read into the transcript for these items.
The contracts will proceed to procurement follow-up in the assigned departments as listed in staff memoranda and the county will allocate the stated grant-match amounts and SPLOST commitments where required.
