Gravette board approves monthly finances and several personnel recommendations

The Gravette School District board approved its monthly financial summary and a slate of personnel recommendations at the March meeting.

The finance presenter reported February receipts just over $1.3 million (about $760,000 from property tax), year-to-date revenues near $16.5 million (about 61% of the annual revenue budget) and year-to-date outlays close to $18.2 million (roughly 55% of budgeted expenditures). The presenter noted a March payout of about $532,000 and a cash position of roughly $8.9 million, with $6.7 million in the building fund and about $5 million earmarked for the high-school project. A motion to approve the monthly financial summary was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.

On personnel matters the board approved several items proposed by administration. A trustee moved to accept the recommendation to employ William Fine as a food-service substitute on a 44-day contract at $13.53 per hour for no more than 20 hours per week; the motion passed by voice vote. The board accepted the resignation of Tyler Matlock as director of special education effective June 30, 2026, and accepted the retirement of Jackie Riley, a custodian, with trustees noting Riley’s roughly 15 years of service. The board also accepted the resignation of Pete Carpino, a GHS special-education teacher, effective at the end of the 2025–26 school year.

Finally, trustees approved the interdistrict transfer and promotion of Natalie Renaud from assistant golf coach to head golf coach effective at the start of the 2026–27 school year.

No votes were recorded as opposed in the meeting minutes for these motions; each passed after the standard "all in favor" voice vote. The board later entered executive session to discuss employment and resignation matters under the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act; seven board members attended and no votes were taken in executive session.
