Fremont board approves donations, therapy contracts and summer programs

The Fremont City Schools board voted unanimously to accept two donations, approve therapy contracts for extended-school-year services and authorize several summer programs.
Superintendent presented two donations, including a Fremont Area Foundation grant described as funding painting, lighting and flooring work at the district's football stadium. "Our Fremont Area Foundation that supports the entire community ... is on our agenda this evening," the superintendent said. The board approved the donation in a unanimous roll-call vote.
The board also approved a contract with Resilience Therapy for extended-school-year services and an additional contract with PT Services to provide occupational, physical and speech therapy during the summer. Both motions passed on roll-call votes with all members voting yes.
Separately, the board approved a summer elementary intervention program limited to third-grade students (to provide state-level testing needed for promotion), a summer program for Ross High School students who are credit deficient, and an opportunity for high-school students to take additional state tests required for graduation. Each item was approved unanimously.
All motions listed in items 1 through 6 passed by roll call; no board dissent or abstentions were recorded during the meeting.
The board did not attach additional conditions to the donations or contracts during the meeting; staff will implement the programs as described in the agenda materials.
