Summary
Superintendent told the board the district reported a net gain in students this month, updating enrollment projections from about 1,920 to roughly 1,938; staff said final school-choice effects will be clearer in May and about 130 seniors are on track to graduate.
Gravette School District administrators reported a modest uptick in enrollment at the March board meeting, information they said will inform staffing and transfer decisions for the 2026–27 school year.
"This is the first month this year that we are reporting that we have gained students," the superintendent told trustees, adding that early data are encouraging but that the district will not have full visibility on school-choice movements until May board meetings.
District staff said a prior projection of roughly 1,920 students has been revised upward to about 1,938. That change, trustees were told, will factor into planning for teacher assignments, transfers and other staffing needs.
Administrators also presented data on the senior class and freshman-success programs: staff projected about 130 seniors on track to graduate in May and highlighted the collaboration between middle- and high-school teachers to identify and support at-risk ninth graders. The district credited tighter monitoring and intervention for improved freshman outcomes compared with past cohorts.
The superintendent reported several extracurricular and operational updates, including community fundraising for a stadium scoreboard that the district hopes to present to the board in April; staff said the scoreboard would be funded by sponsorships and not by district operating funds. Officials also flagged Chromebook durability and curricular discussions about screen time and device procurement ahead of next year’s budget planning.
Board members asked when parents could expect formal notices about retention risks and summer-school obligations; staff said letters and updates are being distributed and final lists of required summer-school attendees will follow ATLAS testing results.
