"My name is Mark Holm. I'm Polk County supervisor for the area North Of 163," Holm said, explaining that Prairie Meadows and Polk County have shared gaming revenues that support local school districts. He told the board the program has returned more than $21,600,000 to Polk County students since 2007.
Holm described the funds as unrestricted and available for the district to use at its discretion to support students, faculty and staff. Board members thanked Holmes and said the district would put "every penny of that to good use." The check was photographed with board members and guests.
No formal action was required; the presentation was part of the public comment/recognition portion of the agenda. The district did not specify how the funds will be allocated at the time of the meeting.
