The Hermantown City Council approved a resolution to adopt a proposed property tax levy for taxes payable in 2026 and to schedule the required truth-in-taxation hearing for the first meeting in December.
Staff told the council the effective rate increase is about 1.4% and the levy itself will increase approximately 10% compared with the prior year. "We would need to notify the county of the proposed maximum tax levy," staff said, explaining the normal next steps for publication and notice.
Councilors had an opportunity to ask questions; no public input was offered during the meeting. The council's action sets the maximum levy for the notice process and starts the statutory timeline that leads to the December public hearing where residents may comment on the proposed levy.
