The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners voted Feb. 16 to schedule a special called meeting for Friday, Feb. 20 at 5:30 p.m. to accept the Cherokee County Republican Party’s recommendation for Cherokee County Sheriff. The motion to set the meeting passed unanimously.
The decision was approved as an amendment to the regular meeting agenda. Commissioners did not take additional public action at the Feb. 16 session regarding the sheriff recommendation; the special meeting notice specifies the board will meet solely to consider the party’s recommendation.
The board did not record further debate or a public comment record about the sheriff matter in the minutes. The Feb. 20 meeting will be held at the Cherokee County Courthouse, Room 342, as the board conducts the procedural step the special meeting notice describes.
