Oscoda County board adopts tax certification, OKs transfers and a series of purchases and sealed-bid sales

The Oscoda County Board of Commissioners on June 10, 2025, unanimously adopted a tax-certification resolution and approved a series of budget amendments, transfers and procurement actions, including a $55,010.45 transfer to cover remaining invoices for a new sheriff’s building and authorization to purchase an EMS pickup not to exceed $70,000.
The board adopted Resolution 2025-006, the county’s 2025 tax certification, at the request of Equalization Director Ms. Amber Woehlert and authorized the chair and county clerk to sign the state L-4029 certificate. The vote was recorded as unanimous following a motion by Commissioner Ted Handrich and second by Commissioner Tom McCauley.
In financial business the board approved multiple budget amendments on the consent calendar and took several specific actions: Treasurer William Kendall was authorized to move $55,010.45 from a DTRF transfer-out line to a public improvements transfer-in line to pay remaining invoices for the new sheriff’s building; the board also directed distribution of Bankhead-Jones federal forest funds totaling $1,991.61 (75% to schools, 25% to townships, with school shares apportioned to Mio AuSable and Fairview Area as listed).
The board authorized accepting sealed bids for several surplus items at the Motor Pool’s request, including a 2006 Ford Expedition (VIN 1FMPU16546LA78991), a 1996 Ford pickup with plow (VIN 1FTEF14H1TLA45039), a 1995 Yamaha motorcycle (VIN JYA3NVE04SA031104), a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer (VIN 1GNCT18X03K109652), a 2011 Chevrolet Impala (VIN 2G1WD5EM2B1287090), a 1993 Load Rite trailer (VIN 4EACRSL10P2001328) and a Boston Whaler jet-drive boat (VIN BWCGA958J293). Proceeds are to be deposited into the budget lines indicated in the agenda.
County staff also requested and received approval for a number of maintenance and safety expenditures. The board approved a $1,200 quote from McGregor Electric LLC for service mast repair and permit work at the county fairgrounds; approved a $2,050 invoice to Northern Pump Service, Inc. to remove fuel from a leaking tank at the Dennis Kauffman Memorial Airport; and approved a $4,373.27 invoice to American Collision & Glass Shop, LLC for motor-pool vehicle repairs.
EMS Director Robert Stankiewicz secured the board’s authorization to purchase and outfit a 2024 Chevy Silverado for emergency responses, not to exceed $70,000, to be funded from the county’s ambulance capital line. The board also appropriated $1,500 in HMEP grant funds into the Special Fund (230) Hazmat account.
Commissioners used the committee reports portion of the meeting to note recent external meetings and local program activity. Commissioner Jackie Bondar thanked Commissioner Joe Breaugh for assistance with fairgrounds cleanup and praised work done on the grounds; Commissioner Ted Handrich described a life-jacket installation at Smith Lake as “This is a very nice program.”
