Summary
Chief Financial Officer Brian Roth said the agency's finances remain 'strong and stable,' reported 31 hires since the fiscal year began, and commissioners seeded a budget subcommittee to develop exceptional items ahead of the upcoming appropriation request.
Chief Financial Officer Brian Roth told commissioners the agency's financial position remains strong and stable as it moves into the third quarter of the fiscal year and prepares for the legislative appropriation request process.
"As we're in the third quarter of the fiscal year, our financial position remains strong and stable," Roth said, adding that the finance team continues budget work and anticipates completing an audit report by the next commission meeting.
Roth said the agency has hired 31 new employees since the start of the fiscal year and has eight active job postings. He outlined several near-term initiatives including a base-reconciliation process tied to the legislative cycle, a space-utilization assessment and development of a workforce plan to feed the appropriation request expected in late July or early August.
Commissioners seeded a budget subcommittee to work with Roth on exceptional items; Commissioner Harvey volunteered to chair the committee so the commission can prepare materials earlier in the cycle.
Next steps: Roth will continue work with the subcommittee and expects to present the audit report and proposed exceptional items for commission review at upcoming meetings.
