Board reviews stadium lighting change order, school renovations and multiple purchasing requests

The construction team asked the board to approve McMillan Hazan Smith Architects to evaluate exterior remediation and oversee design work for Wynton Arts Academy and to approve a construction manager for that project.
Procurement and renewals: Procurement staff presented contract extensions and renewals, including a multi-year extension process for Lightspeed Datalinks (part of a previously authorized RFP pool), and a Spectrum Center renewal the agenda listed at $4,680,000 to be expended from the instructional function pending the FY2027 budget. The board also reviewed invitation-to-bid items for access-control panels, power-distribution units for Shaw High School data closets, Lenovo computers for the library, and server migration services.
Special-contract item: The board reviewed a proposed purchase order increase of up to $30,000 for behavior and psychological assessments tied to a legal proceeding for a student. Executive Director LaChrista Thornton explained the need to contract a board-certified behavior analyst and school psychologist for multiple observations and assessments; she described $30,000 as a high-end estimate depending on the number of observations required.
