Tulsa Public Schools renews superintendent’s contract after executive session

After returning to open session, the board approved a motion to renew and amend Dr. Johnson’s contract (mover: Board Member Calvin Moniz; second: Stacey Woolley). The motion passed with six votes in favor and one abstention by E'Lena Ashley.
Separately, the board voted to authorize the district’s attorneys to take actions deemed appropriate in connection with pending litigation (Keenan Meadors v. Independent School District No. 1 of Tulsa County, Case No. 20-CV-595-JDR-SH). That motion (mover: Calvin Moniz; second: John Croisant) carried with five aye votes and two abstentions by Stacey Woolley and Kyra Carby.
Board members stated on the record that the executive session addressed both the superintendent’s employment and the referenced litigation, in keeping with the cited statutory exceptions for confidentiality.
No additional contract terms were read into the public record at the meeting. The board did not vote on other personnel actions during open session related to this item.
The board adjourned at 10:50 p.m.; its next regular meeting is scheduled for Dec. 8, 2025, at 5:30 p.m.
