Cameron County commissioners release cleaning-services RFP, approve elevator repair and table volunteer fire grant

Cameron County commissioners voted to release a request for proposals for county cleaning services, approved a vendor quote for elevator work and acknowledged an Act 13 grant request during a regular meeting.
The Chair said the county’s current cleaning contract has ended and sought approval to release the RFP; the commission approved release and, as discussed, the issue date would be the day of approval and "Proposals would be due February 19," the Chair said. Commissioner (who moved the approval) said, "I'll make motion that we approve the release," and the motion passed by unanimous voice vote.
The board also considered a $733.67 quote from Eastern Elevator to install a new car-top exhaust fan. The Chair noted county maintenance staff member Jack said he could obtain parts more cheaply and offered to perform the work, but commissioners raised concerns about warranty and insurance exposure if non‑vendor staff performed the installation. After that discussion the commission approved the Eastern Elevator quote.
The Chair requested acknowledgement of an Act 13 funding request submitted by the Sonoma County Volunteer Fire Department for $9,218.42 to buy rescue stretchers, a chainsaw, pagers, radios and helmets. The commission acknowledged receipt of the request and then voted to table action on approving the grant request until the first-quarter meeting on April 2, when the item will be reviewed further.
Treasurer’s report: the Chair reported monthly county expenses for December 2025 at $199,165.74. The meeting adjourned at 11:28 a.m.; the next meeting was announced for Thursday, February 5 at 11 a.m.
