Cheryl Fox, candidate for Montgomery City Council Place 4, told a packed forum that the city’s top priority when reviewing new development should be the needs of residents and the small businesses that serve them. "Our town, our community … it's always based on what our residents are needing," she said, adding the city must ensure core services such as police protection, water and sewer are maintained as growth continues.
Fox answered three questions in the structured forum. On infrastructure, she acknowledged persistent needs — "our roads need repairs" — but said the city has improved water reliability compared with earlier years and has staff in place working on repairs and maintenance. She encouraged residents to use community meetings and city council sessions to bring concerns about drainage or streets to elected officials, citing a recent meeting at Mount Sinai Baptist Church as an example of local engagement that surfaced drainage issues.
Fox closed by appealing to her long ties to the community and to voters’ sense of stewardship. "I raised my 3 children here," she said. "I love it that people really love my town as much as I love it." The forum provided voters a chance to hear how the Place 4 candidate would weigh development proposals against residents’ everyday needs.
The forum moved on to the mayoral contest after Fox’s closing remarks.
