Fairfield Council reviews three emergency-generator estimates, approves parade permit and small invoices

Fairfield Borough Council reviewed three estimates for an emergency generator for the Borough building on Feb. 24 and deferred a decision while asking Councilor Dennis Bucher to verify that the bids are comparable.
The estimates presented were: Hefflin Electric for a 30 kW Generac at $26,940; Hull’s Electric for a 26 kW unit at $13,570; and Ketterman Electrical Service for a 26 kW unit at $19,874. Council President Patricia Smith asked Bucher to "review them closely to verify we are comparing apples to apples," and said she did not want council to decide that night.
Council also approved the Fairfield Recreation Association’s Opening Day baseball and softball parade permit scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026, on a motion by Councilor Camille Cline seconded by Councilor Sally Thomas. On a motion by Councilor Pat Pileggi seconded by Councilor Dennis Bucher, council approved invoices from Rose Computers for $312.50 and from the Borough of Carroll Valley for $334.62.
Separately, Patricia Smith asked whether Pippinfest funds could be used to subsidize instructor pay for Paint/Craft nights; Councilor Sally Thomas said she supported the idea and the rest of council agreed. Council did not take a formal vote to appropriate Pippinfest funds at the Feb. 24 meeting; the matter was discussed and favorably received.
