Feedbag owner urges Fairfield to clear curbside snow; council restates limited policy

Council President Pat Smith responded that Borough policy is to remove snow from curbs in front of businesses that lack off-street parking and to clear from J Harry Kane Blvd. to N. Miller St. Smith said the curb outside Ferguson’s business is painted yellow and marked as no parking. Ferguson told the council she did not have parking in front of her business.
The discussion did not result in a change of policy at the meeting. The council did not place a motion to amend snow-removal rules during the Feb. 4 session. Council members did not schedule follow-up action publicly at that time.
The issue affects small businesses that rely on curbside access in the borough’s commercial area. Councilor Dennis Bucher later suggested reviewing related fees in a different context, but no directive to staff or a schedule for further study of snow-removal policy was recorded in the minutes.
The council’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Feb. 24, 2026, where residents may raise the matter again during public comment or when new business is considered.
