At its Feb. 3, 2026 meeting, Mechanicsburg Borough Council approved its consent agenda and heard public comments and departmental updates.
The consent agenda — approved unanimously after a motion by Vice President O’Neil and second by Councilwoman Agerton — included: approval of the Jan. 20, 2026 minutes; authorization of a conditional offer of employment to Katie Spengler as Codes Administrative Specialist at $26.58 per hour; adoption of Resolution 01-2026 renewing handicapped parking spaces for 2026–2028; approval of an intermunicipal agreement with Silver Spring Township for operation of the joint compost facility; acceptance of borough operations and procedures policy; and approval of a lease with Comb and Scissors Barber Shop.
During public comment Rich Heinick asked why the new Special Event Permit Application has not yet been created and opened to residents for an event he plans in June; President Miller said the new ordinance on special events was up for discussion at the meeting and expected to be adopted at the next council meeting. Jeff Kiser, a Hampden Township resident volunteering with March on Harrisburg, said he is preparing a bill on ranked-choice voting and announced an educational session at Arooga’s on the Carlisle Pike.
Chief Glenny introduced Officer Tyler Reitz as a police department employee highlight. Officer Reitz thanked the council and said he looks forward to his upcoming role as Student Resource Officer with the Mechanicsburg Area School District.
The council adjourned at 7:30 p.m. and went into an executive session on a personnel matter; no action was recorded from that session.
