Mechanicsburg Borough Council debated a proposed Sponsorship and Advertising Policy on Feb. 3, 2026, including who would have final approval over sponsorships from religious groups.
Manager Novinger explained that the Borough Manager together with the Chief of Police would be responsible for approving or denying requests from religious groups, and that broader questions about sponsorships would be referred to Borough Council. President Kyle Miller said the policy provides a framework for evaluating requests.
Following an extensive discussion, Councilwoman Agerton moved to table further action on the policy; the motion passed unanimously. The minutes record the tabling and that sponsorship questions may be referred to council for consideration, but they do not record further policy text or a timeline for returning the item to the agenda.
The council’s decision to table leaves current practice unchanged until the policy returns for a future vote.
