Erin Landis, who represents Wissahickon Trails’ water management program, said the grant award covers the design phase: data collection, analysis, design and the permitting process. She emphasized the agreement does not fund construction; further funding and approvals would be required before physical work could begin.
Member Sherwin Collins moved to approve the landowner–grantee agreement pursuant to Growing Greener requirements; Member Melanie Catanese seconded. The motion passed, 8 yes, 0 no.
Why it matters: The design work funded by the grant will determine how the site could be repurposed to manage stormwater and improve water quality in the Borough. Design and permitting are necessary prerequisites to construction and will inform future budget and project timelines.
