The Village of Maywood received an IT assessment summary at the March 5 meeting from Dr. Richard Powell, who reviewed findings from a November 19, 2018 assessment of the village’s IT infrastructure. Dr. Powell outlined strengths and weaknesses in the village’s network, emphasized the need to keep software current to remain supported, and identified limited internal IT staff capacity as a constraint for implementation and ongoing support.
Dr. Powell and Village Manager Willie Norfleet Jr. mentioned grant opportunities through homeland-security grant programs and participation in the Illinois Century Network (noted as potential funding/partnership avenues). Trustees I. Brandon, A. Sanchez and K. Wellington asked questions about the assessment’s findings, and staff responded about recent steps including installation of Office 365 for the village and resource limitations for further work.
The Finance Committee recommended a proposal from Civic Systems (a Baker Tilly subsidiary) for computer software and conversion services, citing a lower cost proposal for equivalent offered services compared with BS&A Software.
