Council authorizes up to $100,000 for right-of-way on Cox Road roundabouts, notes Milton partnership

The Roswell committee on Dec. 9 authorized up to $100,000 for right-of-way acquisition services and acceptance of options necessary for two proposed roundabouts on Cox Road, one at King Road and one at Eastridge (near Ebenezer), as part of a transportation SPLOST project.
Interim transportation director Greg Nicholas said the projects are a joint effort with the City of Milton, which is the lead agency and will ultimately maintain the roundabouts. Nicholas said approximately six parcels across the two projects are likely to be impacted and that the $100,000 figure is a not-to-exceed estimate based on appraisals and contingency. He estimated the King Road roundabout could reach construction by third quarter 2026, while the Eastridge/Ebenezer location could begin later in 2026 or in early 2027.
Councilmembers asked which jurisdiction's design standards would govern landscaping and materials; Nicholas said Milton's standards would apply because Milton will maintain the roundabouts. Councilmember Julie Hills asked for a timeline and Nicholas offered the construction-window estimates above.
The committee approved the blanket right-of-way authorization. Motion by Councilmember David Johnson, second by Councilmember Sarah Beeson (transcript names a second and additional second by Councilmember Morthland in one roll-call line); the chair recorded unanimous passage.
