Summary
Gardner City License Commission set a follow-up inspection for a seasonal liquor renewal for the Polish American Indian Citizens Club after finding no inspection certificate on file and a commission member said the $100 rebate/fee would be waived; staff will notify state regulators once inspection is complete.
The Gardner City License Commission on April 14 scheduled a follow-up building inspection for the Polish American Indian Citizens Club after staff told commissioners the club’s seasonal alcohol-license renewal file lacked an inspection certificate.
The commission’s chair said the application could not be finalized until the local inspection was completed and noted the ABCC (Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission) requires current local approvals before issuing state licenses. Staff said the inspection was rescheduled for the following day and that the late timing stemmed from miscommunication with the building inspector. Staff also said the commission plans to change internal expiration dates for seasonal permits (Jan. 31 or Feb. 28) and to set automated renewal reminders so applicants do not lapse before ABCC deadlines.
A commission member offered to waive a $100 rebate/fee related to the renewal, stating, “I’ll waive it.” The chair asked staff to notify the ABCC and local public-health authorities after the inspection and said the commission should be informed of any outstanding items so it can complete the local review.
The inspection and any outstanding documents must be resolved before the commission can complete the local licensing step required by the ABCC. The commission asked staff to report back after the inspection; no final local license was issued at the meeting.
