Staff said a December traffic‑engineering review found motorists currently travel faster than the posted 25 mph and recommended restoring a prior 35 mph posting for the improved roadway; engineers determined 45 mph could be justified on technical grounds but recommended 35 mph given accident history and signage adjustments approaching curves. On Fir Avenue, the traffic commission recommended stop signs at Flame Drive and Elisa Lynn Way because the intersection configuration was atypical and school bus stops are present.
The board instructed staff to have improved signage and consider additional traffic‑calming measures as needed. The motion to authorize drafting and advertising the ordinance carried unanimously, 3–0.
