Superintendent reports positive DOE accreditation exit review, two findings on evaluation policies

Superintendent Easton told the board the district’s Department of Education accreditation exit review on March 10 was largely favorable but identified two findings related to the district’s evaluation policies.
"The lead reviewer said it was one of the best that she has ever encountered," Easton said, and he added the two findings concern the district’s administrative and teacher evaluation language. He told the board the revisions will appear as first readings tonight and the district plans a final reading in May before submitting materials for formal DOE accreditation.
Easton also provided operational updates: a district safety committee meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the boardroom; the CTE House is under a pending sale expected to close soon to a district staff member; and 148 kindergarten students were registered for next year, up roughly 20–30 students from this time last year (superintendent noted an ideal kindergarten class size would be about 160).

What’s next: the two policy findings will be addressed in the board’s first- and second-reading process, with counsel input and final submission to DOE after changes are adopted.
