Summary
The Radford Heritage Foundation reviewed Glencoe Museum activity and funding, noting roughly 2,600 visitors in 2025 and $225,000 in grant funds for restoration. Council approved an MOU supporting the foundation and discussed advertising and partnership work.
Scott, director of the Radford Heritage Foundation (Glencoe Mansion), presented an annual summary to the council and requested a modest additional $3,000 for the director's increased duties as part of an MOU for FY 26–27.
Scott reported nearly 2,600 recorded visitors in 2025, though he noted event attendance and use of adjacent park facilities may undercount visitors. Glencoe's revenue mix includes more than 100 memberships that raised about $20,500 in 2025, about $18,000 in donations, roughly $8,200 in gross gift-shop sales and $8,700 in grant funding in 2025. For 2026, Glencoe will implement a Paul Bruin historic revitalization grant worth $225,000 (no match required) aimed at restoration and accessibility improvements.
Scott reviewed programming and partnerships, including the Mary Draper Ingalls Cultural Heritage Park, the Glencoe Sessions concert series and a partnership with Friends of the Blue Ridge. Councilmembers praised volunteers and discussed advertising and visitor tracking to increase attendance.
Council unanimously approved the MOU with the Radford Heritage Foundation by voice vote. The council also heard about the Chamber of Commerce MOU and later approved that MOU during the same meeting.
Scott encouraged residents to sponsor flags for a Tribute to Heroes program and noted several upcoming events and exhibits that Glencoe will host.
