The Piscataway Township School District's fiscal planning and operations committee updated the board April 10 on the 2025–26 budget and a slate of capital projects, including interior renovations, bleacher replacement and a revised intercom/PA bid.
Dr. Connors told the board the committee reviewed the tentative budget and recommended not pursuing a new state tax-levy incentive for 2025–26. "I'm not recommending that we pursue that," he said, citing timing concerns.
Committee members outlined project timelines: Escalade High School interior alterations are targeted for demolition during spring break with a November 2025 completion date; Skyway High School bleacher demolition is scheduled for the last week of school with delivery of new bleachers expected Aug. 12 and installation to take three to four weeks.
The board also reviewed a revised quote for the Skyway intercom and PA system. Committee remarks put the current quote at about $1.8 million, below an earlier estimate of roughly $2.5 million. District administration said contract awards for some projects are expected to be presented for approval later in the meeting.
Other items included Alba Energy preparing bid specifications to remove solar panels (a target bid-award date was discussed for early May), five bidders for painting services tied to summer work, and continuing negotiations on the food-services contract with Macchio's for 2025–26.
Fiscal reports also covered the district's investment account performance and copier‑lease changes, and the committee noted a Wellness Committee walking challenge and security enhancements paid in part with a New Jersey School Insurance Group safety grant. The report also flagged a proposed Fellowship Farms preschool expansion that would add 10 classrooms; the board was told a school development authority grant could cover 40% of estimated alteration costs and the proposal appears on the budget agenda.
