Piscataway board welcomes interim superintendent; public input session set for April 22

Dr. Roberto, newly installed as interim superintendent, thanked the board and community and said she planned school visits and department meetings during her first weeks. "I will serve you," she said, adding that she had been struck by the district's culture and support for children since arriving.
The New Jersey School Boards Association is coordinating the search; the board noted that applications for the permanent post are due at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 25. The board said additional input sessions for teachers and administrators are planned once the initial public input is compiled.
The district also highlighted community outreach and a mention in the superintendent's report of a student, Omar, who is awaiting a kidney transplant; the superintendent said the district and staff will support the family. The superintendent's full report was made available online and at the meeting's back table.
No formal action on hiring a permanent superintendent was taken at the meeting; the public input session is intended to gather community priorities that will be used by the search firm and the board.
