Summary
Sadhguru spoke to the Delaware State Senate about mental health and the value of teaching simple meditation practices, calling for families and schools to adopt techniques he said can improve well-being.
Sadhguru addressed the Delaware State Senate on April 15, urging lawmakers to prioritize mental well-being and to teach simple meditative practices widely in families and schools.
The visit was introduced by Palash Gupta, who asked senators to welcome the spiritual leader and noted Sadhguru’s international engagements. Gupta said the visit brought "a revered spiritual leader whose presence reminds us of values that transcend policy, compassion, wisdom, and service to others." Senator Brian Townsend secured personal privilege for the introduction.
In his remarks, Sadhguru said modern life has produced a growing mental-health burden and advocated nonmedical, skill-based approaches. "Most human suffering, apart from the physical things that happen to us, human suffering is essentially manufactured in human mind," he said, arguing that training in inner skills could reduce harm and improve how young people cope. He described the “Miracle of Mind” meditation offering as a tool for well-being and said it is provided freely to youth.
Senator Townsend and others thanked the guest and excused visitors before the body entered a brief standing recess so senators could greet them in the chamber.
