President Jane Sanders convened the meeting and led a roll call that established a quorum. Juror Jerry Hicks moved to approve the consent agenda, which included the May 13 minutes, the May building report, April financials, the May garbage and sewer report, and the outstanding invoice report; the motion, seconded by Juror Dave Wilson, carried with no discussion recorded.
The Secretary/Treasurer asked for authority to pay outstanding invoices based on available funds. Juror Jerry Hicks moved, and Juror Dave Wilson seconded, a motion authorizing payment of outstanding invoices with available funds or as funds become available; the motion passed with no discussion recorded.
The jury also handled several discrete items by motion. Juror Jerry Hicks moved to remove Terral River Services from Walnut Bayou Water’s billing on the grounds the business uses a dumpster service; Juror Johnny Hughes seconded and the motion carried. Juror Johnny Hughes moved, seconded by Juror Jerry Hicks, to approve the Tax Roll Status Report from the sheriff’s office and to issue the Quietus Report for 2024; that motion also carried.
Ms. T. Johnson, appearing on behalf of the Tourism Office, requested a parish donation for the Freedom Fest Juneteenth celebration. Juror Johnny Hughes moved to donate $500, seconded by Juror Dave Wilson. A roll call recorded Districts 1, 3, 4 and 5 as yea and District 2 absent; the motion carried.
Juror Jerry Hicks moved, seconded by Juror Dave Wilson, to grant Blessings U Ministries permission to hold a youth spiritual event on the courthouse lawn on July 21, 2024; that motion carried with no discussion recorded.
