Committee advances bill to require LDH licensure and surveys for residential treatment referrals

Abraham said the Department of Health would adopt rules and inspect facilities and that the bill clarifies that facilities must be licensed by LDH. The bill also provides that no judicial agency shall refer any individual to a residential treatment facility until that facility has been surveyed and licensed by LDH, and that complaints about residential facilities must be reported to the Department of Health.
The committee had no questions and no public cards in opposition. The Vice Chair moved to report Senate Bill 437 favorable; seeing no objection, the committee reported the bill favorable as presented.
The measure was passed out of committee by voice action for further consideration by the legislature.
