Senator Land told the Senate Committee on Local Municipal Affairs that locals want more representation on the St. Mary Parish Consolidated Gravity Drainage District No. 2 board and that Senate Bill 417 would increase the board from five to seven members. "My locals are looking for more representation. They just simply want to move it from 5 members to 7 members," Land said.
A committee member, identified in committee business as Senator Cathy, praised the approach of letting local jurisdictions decide and moved to report the bill favorably. Seeing no opposition, the panel reported SB417 favorably out of committee.
The measure will move to the next legislative stage for consideration by the full chamber.
