Rep. Thompson wins committee approval to transfer 2.5 acres of state land in Tensas Parish

Representative Francis Thompson told the Senate Committee on Natural Resources on April 8 that H.B. 677 would authorize the sale of a 2.5-acre portion of state-owned land in Tensas Parish to two local farming families.
Thompson said the Tensas Parish School Board and other local interests had unanimously supported the proposal and that the parcel has already been surveyed. "It's about land that's owned by the state and the parish," he said, adding that "they've already done... the surveying of the property." He described the transfer as a local, largely uncontested matter.
The chair asked for and received unanimous consent to report the bill favorably. No sale price or further terms were given during committee discussion.
The committee took no roll-call vote; members reported H.B. 677 out by unanimous consent and the bill will proceed according to legislative rules.
