Board forms superintendent search committee and approves several interim personnel moves

The Bensalem Township School District board voted on a series of personnel motions including formation of a superintendent search committee and multiple interim appointments.
The board authorized the establishment of a superintendent search committee and named Mrs. Karen Winters as chair, and voted to retain Bucks County Intermediate Unit 22 to facilitate the search. "Motion to authorize the board to establish a superintendent search committee with Mrs. Karen Winters as chair and further to retain the services of the Bucks County Intermediate Unit 22 to facilitate the search process for the new superintendent," the motion read; it was moved, seconded and carried.
The board also approved a leave request for Joseph Langowski, director of human resources, to commence 03/23/2026 and to extend no later than 06/18/2026, and approved the appointment of Dr. Sean Mark as acting director of human resources during that leave (subject to board and solicitor review). The board approved the appointment of Dr. Donna Minnick to serve as acting assistant to the superintendent during the temporary vacancy created by Dr. Velasquez's elevation to interim superintendent. The board approved Bridal Butler as acting principal at Cornwells Elementary School while Dr. Mark serves in the acting HR role.
Two additional personnel items were added to the agenda and approved: reclassification of Jacqueline Owens from social worker to social worker on special assignment (pupil services coordinator), and approval of a separation agreement between the district and John Steffe, subject to solicitor and interim-superintendent review. All motions were moved, seconded and carried by voice vote as recorded in the meeting.
