Bensalem Township School District’s board on Wednesday approved a separation and release agreement with Superintendent Dr. Samuel Lee and appointed Dr. Victoria Velasquez as interim superintendent effective April 1, 2026.
The board amended the evening’s agenda under the Sunshine Act to add the separation‑and‑release motion and later approved that agreement in a roll‑call vote. After routine personnel approvals, trustees moved to appoint Dr. Velasquez to serve until a permanent successor is named, for a period not to exceed one year.
Dr. Velasquez accepted the appointment and emphasized continuity and transparent communication. "I humbly accept the board's appointment... Our collective focus at this time will be on maintaining operational continuity, protecting instructional integrity, and supporting our staff, students, families, and the larger Bensalem community," she said.
Board members thanked Dr. Lee for his service and expressed appreciation to Brett Haskin (noted separately), who is leaving for a position at a neighboring district. The board also authorized its administration and solicitor to begin a search for a permanent superintendent.
All actions were taken in public session with roll‑call votes as recorded in the meeting minutes and on the livestream. The board said it will provide updates as appropriate and will not speculate publicly beyond formal notices.
