Cass County Board certifies CAM School special election, adopts post-election audit

The Cass County Board of Supervisors unanimously certified the results of the March 3, 2026 CAM School special election on Tuesday and accepted a post‑election audit certification from County Auditor Kathy Somers.

Chairperson Steve Baier called the special session to order at 9:02 a.m. in the Board Room of the Cass County Courthouse in Atlantic. Supervisor Stephen Green moved to adopt the consent agenda, which included minutes from the Feb. 27, 2026 budget work session and the March 3, 2026 regular meeting; Supervisor Mark O’Brien seconded and the board voted all ayes to approve the consent items.

The board opened the floor for public comment; no members of the public spoke. Supervisor Bernard Pettinger moved and Supervisor Wendy Richter seconded approval of Resolution 2026‑08, the formal canvass and certification of the CAM School special election results. The board voted Ayes: Steve Baier, Bernard Pettinger, Stephen Green, Wendy Richter and Mark O’Brien; Nays: none. The motion carried and Resolution 2026‑08 was adopted.

Following the canvass vote, County Auditor Kathy Somers presented the Certification of the Post‑Election Audit for the March 3 special election. Somers provided the audit certification to the board after the formal certification vote; no further discussion or public testimony was recorded.

Supervisor Stephen Green moved to adjourn; Supervisor Bernard Pettinger seconded. The board voted all ayes and adjourned at 9:10 a.m. The board’s next scheduled meeting is March 17, 2026.
