Lewistown commission approves TIF support, business license and several district assessment resolutions

At its meeting Tuesday, the Lewistown City Commission approved multiple administrative and economic-development items.
The commission approved a TIF application recommended by the Lewistown Tax Increment Financing board for Reece (Reese) Townsend to support demolition, utility upgrades and landscaping at 4 21st Avenue South; staff said the TIF board met and recommended funding for the property redevelopment. The commission adopted the resolution (recorded as resolution 4208) by roll call.
Council also approved a business license for a contractor operating as 7 C Electric (application materials list an applicant name included in the packet). Staff confirmed required insurance and bonding had been submitted and the commission approved the license on a unanimous roll call.
The commission adopted resolution 4201 to redefine boundaries for Street Maintenance District No.1 to include three recently annexed properties and passed resolutions 4202–4204 establishing and confirming levies and assessments for Boulevard District No.12, lighting districts, and street maintenance. Staff noted the lighting districts benefited from prior LED retrofits and that the street maintenance assessment rate was set at 4¢ per square foot with residential caps applied per the resolution.
What’s next: Staff will implement the business-license approval, file required TIF paperwork, and publish the adopted district assessment schedules. The planning/finance staff will follow up to schedule any required public notifications for annexations and assessments.
