Redevelopment agency approves $22,550 façade grant for downtown Shang location

The Redevelopment Agency voted April 15 to approve a CVIP owner participation agreement that provides $22,550 toward exterior improvements at 211 South Las Vegas Boulevard.
Dina Babsky, director of Economic and Urban Development, said the building — the former post office recently remodeled — will receive signage, lighting and façade work and that the $22,550 represents half of the $45,000 exterior cost identified by the applicant.
Owner Sam Huang introduced himself to the board and described the improvements as creating a stronger street presence and a better pedestrian experience. "We believe that this project will have pretty meaningful public benefit that will bring more business activity," Huang said.
Councilman Diaz moved to approve the item and the chair announced the motion passed on a voice vote. Staff recorded the project's total owner investment as approximately $600,000 and the expected completion window as the third quarter of this year.
The CVIP payment is drawn from the RDA special revenue fund. The meeting record does not include a roll‑call vote tally.
