The board approved buying secondary ELL literacy intervention resources (Cengage LIFT) from National Geographic Learning for $2,288 to support a pilot program.
Dr. Mandy Bradford said the LIFT curriculum was identified by the ELL task force and is grounded in research; the purchase is intended for middle and high school ELL teachers. Board members asked whether parents have been involved in the task force; Bradford said the task force does not have parent involvement yet but plans to incorporate parents this school year. She said the pilot will include roughly 200 students and that the district would consider a district‑wide expansion next year if the pilot shows positive results.
The motion to approve the purchase passed by voice vote.
