Representative Knox presented House Bill 893 to bring the New Orleans Sewerage & Water Board’s procurement processes more in line with other public entities. Knox said the board currently operates under a different procurement threshold and the bill would require three quotes for purchases of $30,000 or more but less than $60,000, matching standards used elsewhere.
Representative Murray and others supported the bill as practical and helpful for local oversight. Amber Ross with the City of New Orleans was present but did not wish to speak. Representative Marcel moved to send the bill to the floor; the motion carried by voice vote.
The committee did not adopt any amendments during the floor motion and no roll‑call vote was recorded in committee.
