At a transitional meeting called to order at 6:24 p.m., the Arts and Culture Board elected Denise Weed as its new chair and Tim Nims as vice chair.
Denise Weed, the sole nominee for chair, accepted the nomination and the board approved her by voice vote. "I would be honored to take the reins over from JD and keep pushing us forward," Denise Weed said after her nomination. The chair announced the result as seven in favor and zero opposed.
For vice chair, Denise Weed nominated Tim Nims, the museum director and staff liaison to the board. Tim accepted the nomination; the chair announced the vice chair vote as seven in favor. After the votes the transitional meeting was adjourned and the board moved into its regular agenda.
The officers will manage the board’s year of subcommittee work, including new percent-for-the-arts implementation and appointments to the Capital Improvement Sales Tax (CIST) board. Tim Nims noted the board still needs a CIST representative and asked the chair to appoint or confirm Joe in that role at the next opportunity.
The board did not take other formal policy actions during the transitional portion of the meeting and adjourned the transitional business within minutes.
