Board outlines $17 million capital request and $91 million in open projects including Central Middle School

Mercani Anthony said Central Middle School is on track to open this fall and called it the most significant capital project in the town’s history. He listed other major items in the current capital plan, including the final phase of Julian Curtis, an Old Greenwich renovation scheduled to start in April to bring that school into ADA compliance, and Riverside work that the building committee has just formed to address ADA and security upgrades.
The board chair said the FY27 capital request totals $17,000,000 and that district officials currently have about $91,000,000 in open capital commitments, 67 percent of which are tied to active building committees. He said there are six active building committees around town handling major projects.
Mercani Anthony discussed campus‑scale planning linked to a proposed pool project, noting feasibility work could expand the scope to include tennis courts and an access road; he said the district is considering a broader campus approach as designs proceed.
Next steps: the BOE will present details to the BET at upcoming hearings; district officials asked for BET consideration of Riverside project conditions next year so the district can meet municipal improvement requirements and proceed with the planned renovations.
