Yucaipa wins Omnitrans Measure I grants to sustain and expand senior Golden Wheels service

City staff reported that Omnitrans has awarded Measure I funding to support both continuation and expansion of Yucaipa’s Golden Wheels senior transportation program for fiscal years 2027 and 2028. The awards were approved by the Omnitrans Board in March, according to staff.
Staff said approximately 87% of the program cost is to be covered by Measure I grant funds, with the city providing a 13% local match from the general fund. For FY2027 staff estimated a total program cost of about $460,000 with $393,000 covered by grant funding; for FY2028 the total was estimated at ~$325,000 with about $268,000 funded by the grant. Staff recommended approving agreements, incorporating revenues and expenditures into the budget and authorizing required local matches; Councilmember Woolsey, who sits on Omnitrans, recommended approval and moved the item, which the council approved by voice vote.
