The East Grand Forks City Council unanimously approved several routine and capital items at its Feb. 3, 2026 meeting, including an extension of ice use at the Blue Line Arena, acceptance of a grant for arena refrigeration work and authorization for accounts‑payable payments.
Council moved and approved a request to keep the ice at the Blue Line Arena through June 15. Council member Karen Peterson moved the ice extension and a second was recorded; roll call recorded affirmative votes from the mayor and council members.
The council also voted to accept the James Metzen Mighty Ducks grant award in the amount of $250,000, less administrative fees, to replace the R‑22 refrigeration system at the VFW Memorial Arena. The motion to accept the grant was moved by Dale Helms, seconded and approved by unanimous roll call.
Separately, the council authorized the city administrator/clerk/treasurer to issue payment for accounts‑payable invoices totaling $607,783.95 and to process the Jan. 23, 2026 payroll. That motion was moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
Earlier in the meeting, council members approved routine minutes and passed the consent agenda (items 4–7) after a brief question about unpaid roll‑off dumpster bills. Public works staff (Carla Anderson) said the city now accepts credit cards for roll‑off rentals and intends to require payment prior to delivery in many cases; collection processes remain an option for unpaid accounts.
