Kirk Raymond asked Limestone County commissioners to resolve a boundary conflict between county property and land his family owns near a closed alley. Raymond said deeds and a city closure from the late 1960s left a title overlap dating to the early 1970s.
"To me, the simplest thing is to decide something that we can mutually agree upon, execute a boundary agreement, document record it, and resolve the issue," Raymond told the court.
Commissioners discussed options including a boundary agreement or a deed transfer that would clear title and enable Raymond to develop the adjoining lot. One commissioner recommended conceding the southern half of the alley to the property owner to allow the planned development to proceed and to clear title.
A motion was made to deed the southern half of the alley to Raymond, with all expenses to be incurred by the grantee; the motion was seconded and approved. Commissioners asked staff to prepare the deed or agreement and return the finalized document to the court, with the expectation of completing the action by the next commissioners meeting.
The court did not record a formal vote tally in the transcript beyond the presiding official announcing the motion had passed.
