Summerville commission outlines PUC deadlines, assistance sessions and document resources

The U.S. Summerville Subregional Planning Commission reviewed procedural deadlines in the ongoing PUC docket and urged landowners to use commission resources and local volunteer sessions to prepare testimony.

A commission member cited the timeline for the administrative record: the meeting referenced an intervener deadline in late March, a testimony deadline of April 8 and a discovery (requests for information) deadline of April 13. Chair warned that while late intervener filings are legally possible, administrative judges must allow any late entry into the docket and such filings are not guaranteed.

Chair said staff members Eric and Emily maintain a live Google Drive that compiles filings, deadlines and a chart of current statuses; the commission will circulate access to members and volunteers to help craft testimony. The commission also highlighted local assistance sessions: a meeting that evening at 6:30 p.m. at Lingleville School and an additional session the following Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Lingleville High School where volunteers will help residents prepare testimony and understand intervenor procedures.

Speakers described the RFI process: any intervenor may submit requests for information to Encore under specified guidelines and Encore is required to respond, typically within seven calendar days though speakers said responses have sometimes taken around 20 days. Commissioners encouraged landowners to document property‑specific facts (parcel locations, wells, structures) rather than rely on general statements when preparing testimony.

Separately, the commission discussed meeting cadence for April and agreed to continue meeting with a first/third week cadence; staff will circulate calendar notices. The chair closed by urging prompt action so testimony and technical questions can be filed before PUC deadlines.
