Billing services director Kenny Schmidt presented quotes for TriView facility work and medical-examiner equipment. The board approved competitive quote awards for construction work totaling $105,822.09 plus $2,000 for unforeseen costs and a mobile medical-equipment purchase for the medical examiner office for $53,627.53. Schmidt noted local sourcing saved approximately $37,000 on a morgue cooler compared with an out-of-state option.
The board also approved a three-year service agreement for Ace Refrigeration, billed at $1,400 annually to the TriView operating budget; staff noted the contract would not be executed until the cooler installation was complete.
Separately, supervisors discussed that St. Luke's previously provided some morgue services and that the county must now perform them. Budget figures shown to the board reflected a grade-6 step-3 position with benefits estimated at roughly $99,000 plus an estimated $20,000 in standby pay for a total budgeted figure of approximately $119,000 in the general-basic fund.
What happens next: Building services was instructed to apply TriView expenses to the TriView annual operation budget and to execute the Ace Refrigeration agreement once the cooler is installed. Budget director will finalize job descriptions and the auditor and HR will confirm budget lines for the new medical-examiner staffing request.
